"Time Travel: Physics, Philosophy, and Fiction"

Time travel is a staple of science fiction and fantasy. It isn't just
fiction writers who think about time travel, physicists and philosophers
also have lots of thoughts. This talk will start with an introduction to the
physics and philosophy of time and time travel, then conclude with a
discussion of time travel fiction. There will be opportunities for
discussion, so please bring your thoughts and opinions!
About
your instructor: Phil Baringer is a professor emeritus of physics from
the University of Kansas. He is a lifelong science fiction reader and taught
two seminar courses that covered various aspects of time. Don't get him
started on how incoherent "Avengers: Endgame" was.
